Welcome to the Urban & Regional Planning program at ECU.

Our program has a 50-year tradition. In 1960, East Carolina University began to offer courses in urban and regional planning. In 1974, ECU approved the BS degree in urban and regional planning. The BS degree is one of only 15 undergraduate degree programs in the U.S. accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board, and it is the only accredited undergraduate planning program in North Carolina. Over 1,000 students have graduated from our program with an undergraduate major or minor in planning or a graduate concentration in planning. Our program has strong support from active alumni. On behalf of the program, its faculty, and its alumni and friends, I extend our thanks for your interest in the urban and regional planning program.
