Congratulations on your acceptance to East Carolina University! You will find that ECU is a warm and friendly campus with faculty and staff who are anxious to assist you in achieving your academic goals. Our Fall Orientation enables you to make a smooth transition into academic and campus life at ECU. While programs and services at ECU are similar to those provided at your previous college or university, in reality every college or university is different so our orientation program will be of great benefit to you. You will be introduced ECU’s community, learn about resources available to assist you in making a smooth transition, and provide you with information to help you be successful as a student at ECU.
As a new student, you have two options for orientation and class registration: a one-day on campus orientation OR an online orientation (Transfer students only).Campus Orientation
A one-day on-campus orientation will be held on October 6, 2017 and January 5, 2018. At the orientation, you will learn about academic policies, discover campus resources, meet other students, get your ECU 1 Card and meet with your advisor to prepare for registration.
Check-in for orientation will be held from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30AM and should conclude by 5:00PM. The cost for attending orientation is $100 for students. The fee covers the cost for student ECU 1 Card, program materials, meals, parking, shuttle service, facility usage, and staffing.
Family sessions run concurrently with student sessions and introduce family members to resources available to their student at ECU. The cost for family members is $50 for the first family member and $20 for each additional family member. This cost includes meals, parking shuttles, facility usage, materials, and staffing.
Online Orientation – TRANSFER STUDENTS ONLY
There is a $20 fee for online orientation. Access online orientation through Pirate Port by using your ECU username and password. Username and Password can be found in your “admitted to ECU” packet. Once you complete the online orientation, including quizzes and surveys, you will be provided an advisory code and contact information for advising centers. Contact the advising center associated with your major, give them the code, and discuss the class registration process. Although the cost of online orientation includes the cost of your 1 Card, you will be responsible for getting your ECU 1 Card which you can do anytime you are on campus.
Enrollment deposit must be
made prior to participating in either an on campus or online orientation. If
deposits are not been paid prior to the October 6 face-to-face orientation
students have the option to submit payment at the Cashier's Office when they arrive.
Students opting to take online orientation can pay their enrollment deposit any
time prior to logging into the orientation site found in PiratePort.
