Welcome to the Department of Interdisciplinary Professions!

The Department of Interdisciplinary Professions in the College of Education offers cutting-edge educational programs that prepare students for rewarding careers as counselors, information technology specialists, librarians, or educational professionals working in adult/continuing education, and business/marketing education. Coursework and field experiences empower learners with required skills, knowledge, and experience; help them learn to think critically and practice proficiently; and provide the strong foundation of both theory and practice needed to be effective and successful in one's chosen field.

The Department offers graduate degrees in Adult Education (MAEd), Business and Marketing Education(MAEd), Counselor Education (MS), and Library Science (MLS). The Adult Education, Business and Marketing Education, and Library Science programs are offered entirely online. The department also offers an online graduate certificates in Community College Instruction and Education in the Healthcare Professions. Undergraduate degrees include Business and Marketing Education and Information Technology (BSBE); minors are offered in information processing and distribution technology: merchandising.

The vision of the Department of Interdisciplinary Professions is to meet the changing needs of a global society by providing learners with quality educational programs taught by experienced and knowledgeable faculty.  The mission of the Department is to prepare and develop proficient and reflective educators, administrators, counselors, librarians, and information technology specialists who will serve as leaders in higher education, schools, communities, business and industry, and government.

ECU College of Education hosts Annual Ceremony to Honor Scholarship Recipients, Donors
Video Slideshow from Donor and Scholarship Recipient Ceremony More than 100 students in the East Carolina University College of Education received a record amount of scholarship support for the upcoming academic year. For the 2017-18 academic year, more than $582,000 in merit and need-based scholarships were distributed to 102 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education students.
