Welcome to the College of Education at East Carolina University. The college is an integral part of ECU's growing presence as a public research university of regional and national impact. Administrators, faculty, and staff are well poised and proud to embrace the university's goals in support of student success, public service and regional transformation.
Since its inception, graduates of the College of Education have had a significant impact on the state's workforce. Over the years, our graduates have strengthened the Eastern North Carolina region and beyond in roles such as teachers, counselors, education specialists, librarians and information professionals, administrators, university/college faculty, and researchers. Their impact as effective and proficient professionals has influenced the social, economic and societal well-being of our community, the state and the nation, along with the lives of countless individuals.
Through a wide-ranging choice of course work, degree and certificate programs, the college offers students the opportunity to develop and expand their expertise in serving their communities. As Dean, I invite students to explore the full spectrum of the college's programs and find the avenue that will best meet their aspirations and professional goals. The talented faculty, professional advisors, and staff of the College of Education are ready to assist students in matching their individual academic goals to a program of study. Whether students wish to teach in a school, college, or university, counsel children, adults or families, develop and assess curricula, lead administratively, design the next generation of digital resources, conduct research, or enhance their own professional skills through certification in an educational discipline, there is a program and pathway for all. Graduates work in public and private schools; in community colleges and universities;as well as in military, government and private industry.
The college is very proud of its accomplished faculty and staff. Each member of the team is dedicated to serving all students. The College of Education is fully accredited and is recognized as one of the foremost institutions of its kind, regionally and nationally. We, as a college, are committed to lifelong learning, serving as a hub for partnerships, and the promotion of proven and promising practices in teaching, learning and leading. I hope students will explore our programs and offerings to see how the college can assist them in advancing their professional goals.
