Bachelor of Science in Information and Computer Technology

The Information and Computer Technology (ICT) program prepares students for successful careers in the very dynamic field of Information Technology (IT). ICT students learn both theoretical and applied strategies in the design, deployment, security, and troubleshooting of computer networks in small, medium, and large organizations. Students gain valuable hands-on experiences in our state-of-the-art laboratories, as well as through industry internships, coops, and capstone projects. The program integrates industry-standard curriculum, heterogeneous internetworking technologies, operating systems, and cloud technologies from leading companies such as Cisco Systems, EMC Corporation, Juniper Networks, IBM, Microsoft, Network Appliance, and RedHat to mention a few. The hands-on nature, technical currency, and technological diversity of our programs make our students very competitive in today's global job market and allows them to "hit the ground running" upon employment.

Capstone Presentations from the College of Engineering and Technology

The following videos are from the Undergraduate Senior Capstone Class from the 2014- 2015 school year. This class covers a full academic calendar year and is hosted by Dr. Charles Lesko of the College of Engineering and Technology at East Carolina University. The Capstone class contains an open-ended design project that begins in the fall with the development of the project proposal, and continues into spring with the execution and completion of the proposed project. Each project is handled by a single team throughout the year, and results in a final presentation at the end of the course. These videos are the recorded final presentation for the Capstone class.

Capstone 2015 - Boys & Girls Club of Pitt County

Boys & Girls Club

Description: The main goal of this project is to update and document the network of the Boys and Girls Club located on Fire Tower Rd. in Pitt County. The team will be concentrating on several tasks to accomplish this project including: cable management, documentation of existing network, remote access, centralized authentication, separation of the network designed for the patrons from the executive branch located in the same building.

Capstone 2015 - Williams Family Chiropractic Infrastructure Upgrade

Williams Family Chiropractic Project

Description: The Williams Family Chiropractic project involves upgrading the current office infrastructure and making further recommendations for subsequent upgrades in the near future, including updating the PC's with new SSDs, upgrading the OS to Windows 7, adding a patient Wi-Fi hotspot, and backup server.

Capstone 2015 - AOII

Description: The AOII Sorority House located in Greenville, NC was in need of a revamp and overhaul of the existing network. After determining the current network problems, we updated devices and implemented a new wireless network with stable connectivity.

Capstone 2015 - NASA IPv6

Description: With collaboration with Nephos6© and NASA, a team of ECU students will collect and analyze the IPv6 effectiveness of NASA's public facing websites. V6Sonar©, a user experience monitoring platform developed by Nephos6©, will be used to collect extensive data measuring the IPv6 effectiveness of NASA services. NASA web domains will be tested in terms of user experience as compared to IPv4. Sonar agents from various geographic locations in North America, Europe, and Asia are employed to poll each agency site at specified intervals for a period of 7 days.

Capstone 2015 - Ft. Fischer Cyber Shark

Description: For a public education facility, interactivity is key. The Director of the North Carolina Aquarium at Ft. Fischer has expressed that there exists an opportunity for a group of East Carolina University students to help expand not only the facility's interactive capacity, but also their skills and technological prowess by working to design and implement a touch-screen based content delivery system for several of the animal exhibits on campus.

Capstone 2015 - Wayne Community College Virtual World System Development

Description: Wayne Community College located in Goldsboro, North Carolina would like to create a virtual classroom environment for the surrounding high schools. These schools would attend classes online for the subjects of Auto Cad and Hydraulics. The solution to the project is to download an open source program from http://opensimulator.org to create an online virtual world that students can access via the internet and a client viewer on their computer that will allow them to access the virtual world.

Capstone 2015 - G&M Service Company

Description: The focus of this project will be the implementation of a more efficient network, and the building of a database-type quoting program for the G&M Service Company, a heating and air conditioning company in Raleigh, NC. The first objective is to have functional database-based quoting program implemented into the businesses day-to-day operations. The second objective will be to replace any devices with devices that will work with the new program standpoint. The third objective will be to make sure that things run smoothly, and look organized for their permanent operation.
