Mrs. Dumpor has been employed with East Carolina University since 2008 and has been a career employee with the state of North Carolina since 1992.

In her present position, she serves as an advocate for students and scholars on both Main Campus and for The Brody School of Medicine ensuring a smooth transition into the US and campus life.

Sandy assists with advising and filing of J1 and other non-immigrant visa status in compliance with Federal regulations to secure the required documentation through the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Department of State. She also works closely with other staff members in the Office of International Affairs to provide each and every foreign student and scholar an opportunity to excel in their area of expertise. Sandy encourages the sharing of culture, interests, and ideas to promote a greater understanding and appreciation for every community.

Katie Erickson

Katie has been at ECU since September 2011. Previously, she had been at Baylor University’s Center for International Education for 4 years. Katie is responsible for promoting education abroad at ECU, working with ECU students who wish to go overseas as well as working with international students who do their study abroad at ECU.

Katie studied in Swansea, Wales during her junior year while attending Iowa State University. She has also spent summers working with an organization called Camp Adventure that led her to work as a lifeguard and swim instructor for U.S. Military dependents on bases overseas in Korea, Japan and Singapore.

Katie is really passionate about study abroad and hopes that one day all college students will go abroad. Come by and say hello and plan your study abroad experience!

William Mallett
Assistant Director of International Student Advisement

Bill has been the Assistant Director of International Student Advisement at East Carolina University since July of 2003. Previously he served eleven years as the International Student Adviser at a college in Brooklyn, New York. At ECU his responsibilities include the development, implementation and evaluation of all programs that support international students. He also ensures that the University is in compliance with United States immigration policies and assists faculty with implementing Summer-study abroad programs. Bill plans and directs the international student orientation program and is currently partnering with other ECU departments on special projects that will assist and connect our international student population. Furthermore, he earned a doctoral degree in the College of Education with a concentration in educational leadership in May 2007 from ECU.

Outside of ECU, Bill is very involved in local and state youth soccer and has been a coach and referee since his oldest son began playing 2001. He finds coaching soccer to be very rewarding and enjoys teaching young players the sport. Bill is married to Rita and they have two sons, Maximilian and John Carlo.
